Dalam laporannya, BMKG mengatakan saat ini beberapa wilayah di Indonesia, khususnya bagian Timur seperti Maluku, Maluku Utara, dan sebagian besar Papua, masih memiliki potensi hujan dengan intensitas sedang hingga lebat.
BMKG menyebut potensi hujan tersebut dipengaruhi aktivitas fenomena cuaca global, yakni aktifnya Gelombang Kelvin, Rossby Ekuatorial, dan MJO.
“Selain itu, adanya daerah pertemuan dan perlambatan angin, kelembapan udara yang tinggi, serta labilitas atmosfer yang menciptakan kondisi udara labil dan berpotensi meningkatkan pembentukan awan hujan,” dikutip dari laporan BMKG, Jumat (30/8/2024).
Secara umum, analisis dan pantauan BMKG menunjukkan dalam sepekan terakhir curah hujan di beberapa wilayah di Indonesia bagian utara masih cukup tinggi pada sepekan terakhir.
Tercatat hujan dengan intensitas sangat lebat (100-150 mm/hari) terjadi pada tanggal 19 Agustus 2024 di Stasiun Meteorologi Minangkabau (148 mm/hari), pada 22 Agustus 2024 di Stasiun Meteorologi Pattimura (154 mm/hari), pada 26 Agustus 2024 di Stasiun Meteorologi Domine EduardOsok( 151 mm/hari), dan pada 28 Agustus 2024 di Stasiun Mozez Kilangin (104 mm/hari).
Untuk kondisi atmosfer terkini, dalam skala global, nilai IOD, SOI, dan Nino 3.4 tidak signifikan terhadap peningkatan curah hujan di wilayah Indonesia. Skala Nino 3.4 mencerminkan anomali iklim La Nina dan El Nino.
Adapun fenomena yang memengaruhi peningkatan awan hujan (konvetif) ini adalah MJO yang merupakan gerombolan awan dari arah Afrika. Diprediksi MJO aktif di wilayah Samudra Hindia (fase 3) menuju Maritime Continent/Wilayah Indonesia (fase 4).
Selanjutnya, aktivitas gelombang ekuator Kelvin terprediksi aktif di wilayah di Laut Natuna, Selat Karimata, Kalimantan Barat, Lampung bagian selatan, Jawa bagian barat hingga tengah, Laut Jawa, Kalimantan Tengah bagian selatan, Kalimantan Selatan, dan Sulawesi selatan.
Berikutnya, gelombang atmosfer Rossby, diprediksi aktif di wilayah Bengkulu, Jambi, Sumatra Selatan, Kep. Bangka Belitung, Selat Karimata, Laut Jawa, dan Samudra Pasifik timur laut Papua.
Ada juga sirkulasi siklonik terpantau di perairan utara Papua Barat yang membentuk daerah perlambatan kecepatan angin (konvergensi) di perairan utara Papua Barat.
Daerah perlambatan kecepatan angin (konvergensi) lainnya memanjang di Sumatra Barat, di Lampung, di perairan barat Bengkulu, di perairan selatan Jawa Timur, di Laut Flores, di Laut Jawa, di Laut Sulawesi, dari Laut Maluku hingga Sulawesi Utara, di Laut Seram, dan di Papua Selatan.
Daerah pertemuan angin (konfluensi) juga terpantau di perairan utara Papua Barat. Kondisi ini meningkatkan potensi pertumbuhan awan hujan di sekitar sirkulasi siklonik dan sepanjang konvergensi/konfluensi tersebut.
Peningkatan kecepatan angin hingga lebih dari 25 knots terpantau di Laut Andaman, Samudra Hindia Barat bagian Sumatra hingga selatan Banten, serta di Laut China Selatan. Hal ini mampu meningkatkan tinggi gelombang di sekitar wilayah perairan itu.
Terakhir, Labilitas Lokal Kuat yang mendukung proses konvektif pada skala lokal.
